ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday granted protective bail to the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan in seven cases registered against him across the federal capital territory.

Imran Khan was booked in 7 different cases across Islamabad following his arrival at the Judicial Complex on March 18 and the violent events that took place when Police resorted to massive tear gas shelling and baton-charge his workers and supporters.
During the course of proceedings today, the CJ IHC was apprised of the situation that an attempt had been made on Khan’s life in November last year, yet his security had been withdrawn by the government, to which Justice Aamer Farooq remarked that if the government would not provide security, he (Khan) would be left with no option but to arrange his own security.

At one point, Imran Khan wanted to speak but the bench comprising Justiced Aamer Farooq and Justice Mian Gul Hassan denied the permission, and instead, asked his lawyer to continue.
After hearing the plea and arguments, the IHC granted protective bail to Imran Khan in 7 cases till April 6, barring police from making his arrest, and summoning response from federal government to explain as to why Khan’s security was withdrawn.
