ISLAMABAD: Senior leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Dr Shireen Mazari and Fawad Chaudhry have demanded investigation after media reports went viral, suggesting that a note of Justice Mandokhail, which hadn’t become part of Supreme Court’s order, not only reached PDM’s lawyer Farooq H Naek, but he started reading it out during the course of proceedings here on Friday.

On behalf of PPP, PMLN and JUIF, senior lawyer Farooq H Naek was reading out a statement seeking the recusal of Honble Mr. Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan and Honble Mr. Justice Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi, during which he said “that in view of above and the note of Mr. Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail read by him in the Court on 23-02-2023, the leadership of the aforesaid political parties is of the view that the interest of justice, fair play and to protect the fundamental right to fair trial and due process as guaranteed under Article 10A of Constitution, Honble Mr. Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan and Honble Mr. Justice Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi may kindly abstain themselves from hearing the titled SMC No. 1 of 2023 as well as connected petitions.”

Taking to Twitter, Dr Shireen Mazari quoted Islamabad court reporter Saqib Bashir’s tweet and said “this raises some very serious questions that CJP must investigate. One, how did a note of Justice Mandokhail which was not yet part of the order reach Naek; and two, who gave it to him? The timing of Naek’s remarks also coincide with MaryamNS speech trying to malign judiciary!”

Fawad Chaudhry too took to Twitter and expressed concern over reports that the note of Justice Mandokhail landed into the hands of PDM lawyer Farooq H Naek despite the fact that it had yet to become part of the SC order.

Fawad Chaudhry too demanded investigation, adding that Farooq H Naek should be questioned as to where from did he get this note?
