ISLAMABAD: The administration of federal capital has decided not to allow Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to hold its public gathering and sit-in citing recent incident in Wazirabad in which one person was killed and 14 others including Imran Khan were injured.

Advocate General filed a miscellaneous petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC), describing serious security threats to the Chairman of PTI Imran Khan. The petition cited Wazirabad incident in which Imran Khan’s container was fired at, confessional statement by prime suspect Naveed who, according to petition, narrated his religious beliefs that motivated him to that attack.
The Islamabad administration expressed apprehensions that religious fanatic like the one that hit in Wazirabad might enter into the public gathering of PTI and repeat such actions. Islamabad had witnessed such incidents including the ones of Salman Taseer and Shahbaz Bhatti, the administration argued.
The petition also cited recent statements by second tier leadership of PTI, including those from Fawad Chaudhry, in which they passed ‘threatening remarks’, and vowing to take revenge (of Wazirabad incident).
The administration requested the IHC to reject and dismiss PTI’s petition which sought No Objection Certificate (NOC) for holding its public gathering and rally, including sit-in, in the federal capital.
