Former Prime Minister and PTI chairman Imran Khan Tuesday asked justice from the Chief Justice of Pakistan for the torture inflicted upon PTI leaders Shahbaz Gill and Azam Swati.

The PTI resumed its fifth day of the long march after party chairman Imran reached Gujranwala, renewing his call for the announcement of general elections.

“I am asking you today. If you [CJP] and the judiciary don’t stand for us, then who will,” Imran asked.

Appealing to Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial to take action on the alleged torture of PTI Senator Azam Swati, leader Shahbaz Gill and others, he said, “We are looking towards you”.

“It is your responsibility to ensure justice for them … In our movement for true freedom, we are looking towards you. You have to ensure the supremacy of law.” said.

He further stated that the nation would never forget it what happened to Azam Swati and Shahbaz Gill.

“And what they did with Arshad Sharif, he told me who was threatening him. Chief justice sahab you should take interest in this yourself. Arshad Sharif is first sent outside and then he is killed.” he added.

Moreover, the form premier challenged Nawaz Sharif to an election face-off during his address in Gujranwala.

“I challenge Nawaz that I will defeat him at his own constituency if he contests elections again,” Imran said while addressing the public on the fifth day of what his political party calls the ‘Haqeeqi Azadi March’.

He further stated that the rights of a nation that is shackled by slavery are always violated and hence, there is a need for Pakistan to attain true freedom now.

The PTI chairman said that the rule of law favored the powerful in Pakistan.

“Scripts are given to the government from foreign nations ordering not to purchase cheaper oil from Russia,” he said. “India is buying cheaper Russian oil, but the present government needs a NOC before any step.”

Earlier, PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry had said that the march will begin and end at Gujranwala.

“On November 2, we will begin moving from Pindi Bypass and approach Lakhar from Rahwali,” he said. “On November 3, we intend to reach Gujrat and we will stay at Moonis Elahi’s home.”
