ISLAMABAD: If laughing has become a crime in the federal capital now, I’m sure most of us don’t know about it. But it seems it was the case on Monday when the capital police arrested four people for allegedly laughing at a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Atta Tarar.
According to senior police authorities, the Kohsar police kept four people, detained from the Monal Restaurant, in custody for a day without filing a formal complaint or case against them. They were later released after their detention became one of the most talked-about topics on social media.
It was reported in the media that PLMN leader told the police officials about the four men laughing at them. Afterwards, the police reported the matter to a senior officer who directed the Kohsar SHO to arrest the four persons.
Later the SHO arrested them and brought them to Kohsar police station and put them behind bars, without registering a case, they said.
In a written statement, the police said these people were arrested for harassing the PLM-N leader Atta Tarar.
The police added that the four people had harassed Atta Tarar’s family and caused a commotion before being taken to a police station for questioning.
