KARACHI: The Rabita Committee of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM-P) said that the situation in Karachi city has deteriorated due to heavy rains, while Sindh government ministers are celebrating Eid in their hometowns.
The committee said in a statement that the rains have once again opened the floodgates of Karachi’s infrastructure deficiencies, the city’s sewerage system has collapsed and the roads look like ponds.
The Rabita committee in its statement said that the citizens are suffering due to the incompetence of the Sindh government. The ministers and officials of the Sindh government have gone to celebrate Eid in their home areas.
Three people were killed in rain related incidents after heavy rainfall sunk part of the metropolis including Defense, ruining Eid-ul-Azha of the residents.
According to details, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast light to moderate showers in the city throughout the day as humidity reaches 90 percent.
Meanwhile, rescue officials said that three people died of electrocution while one side of a two-story building collapsed; however, rescue teams managed to save the people.
Several main roads and streets were completely flooded and Abdullah Shah Ghazi, KPT and Submarine underpasses were closed for the traffic.
