ISLAMABAD: President Dr. Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday expressed their deep grief and sorrow over the death of col. retired Tahir Hussain Mashhadi, a PPP leader and former senator.
The president and the prime minister prayed for the departed soul and for the bereaved family to bear the loss with fortitude.
The prime minister said that late Mashhadi’s services to the country and nation would be remembered for a long.
Mashhadi used to speak candidly on various national issues, he added.
It is pertinent to mention here that, Mashhadi passed away last night. According to the family, Tahir Mashhadi had been ill for some time, and the night between Friday and Saturday he passed away.
He joined the PPP after saying goodbye to the MQM. Before the PPP, former Senator Col (retd) Tahir Mashhadi was also associated with the PML-N for some time.
The family further said that the funeral prayers of Tahir Mashhadi will be offered today after Namaz-e- Zuhar at Malir Cantt Imambargah.
