KARACHI: The duration of load shedding in Karachi has been extended to 12 hours on which a large number of people are protesting. The loadshedding-irked citizens staged demonstrations at 14 different spots of the metropolis.
According to details, besides Karachi, pronged loadshedding is going on in different cities of the country including Lahore and Islamabad. The power shortfall across the country has exceeded 6,000 MW.
Power outages are being carried out for 10 to 14 hours in different cities. Due to hot weather and loadshedding in Karachi, the masses have lost their cool and started protesting in many areas.

Citizens of Karachi took to the streets to solve their problems. There were massive protests against K Electric in Lines Area, Garden, Maripur and Nishtar Road. Tires were also burnt in some places caused heavy traffic jams.
Demonstrations also took place in Liaquatabad, Landhi and Korangi against the power outage. Citizens blocked the road at different places in Karachi and suspended the flow of traffic, causing difficulties to the people.
K-Electric on the other hand says that the increase in loadshedding is due to lack of fuel. A spokesman for KE said the company was having difficulty purchasing gas and oil.
