ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, while reacting to the sentencing of Kashmiri Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik on fabricated charges, said that there was a danger that he would be killed in custody.
According to details, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari wrote a letter to the UN Secretary-General on the sentencing of Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik, in which he apprised the Secretary-General of the Indian illegal occupation of occupied Kashmir and the dire situation there.
Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the Indian court had convicted Yasin Malik in a case filed on fabricated and false charges.
He said that the imprisonment of Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik, trial on fabricated charges, and malicious punishment is a reflection of Indian intentions. “India is trying to present the legitimate struggle of Kashmiris for independence as terrorism, Completely ignored legal obligations,” he said.
The letter written by the Foreign Minister said that the treatment of Yasin Malik is part of the efforts of Kashmiris, the Kashmiri leadership to get involved in the cases, and there is a danger that Malik may be killed in custody.

In the letter, the Foreign Minister urged the Secretary-General to resolve the Kashmir dispute peacefully in accordance with UN resolutions to increase pressure on India.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari further wrote in the letter that Yasin Malik should be released from Indian custody immediately, all Kashmiri leaders imprisoned on baseless, fabricated, false charges should be released, and India, right to self-determination as per UN Security Council resolutions.
He said that India should stop serious human rights violations in the Occupied Territories, abolish black laws in Occupied Kashmir and give access to independent investigators for UN-sponsored investigations.
