ISLAMABAD: The federal government and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have denied reports that an agreement has been reached over the long march to Islamabad.
In a tweet, Minister of Information Marriyum Aurangezeb said news of negotiations and agreement between the government and PTI is baseless. She said no agreement has been reached with the “armed group that martyred the police personnel”.

PTI chairman Imran Khan also denied the “rumours” and “deliberate disinformation” that a deal has been reached.
“Absolutely not! We are moving towards Islamabad & no question of any deal. We will remain in Islamabad till announcement of dates for dissolution of assemblies & elections are given,” he said. He called on all people of Islamabad and Rawalpindi to join them.

Local media had earlier reported that PTI and the federal government have reached an agreement after an intense day of political drama and chaos.
According to reports, PTI will now only hold a rally instead of a long march in Islamabad after an agreement with the government.
It added that PTI was represented by Pervaiz Khattak and Asad Umar while Ayaz Sadiq and Yousaf Raza Gillani was part of the government team. Talks between the government and PTI continued for two-and-half hours.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan had also asked the two sides to find an amicable solution. Eventually, it has been agreed that the PTI will hold a rally instead of a long march.
Political tensions are at an all-time high as Islamabad braces itself for the arrival of PTI workers and leaders heading towards the federal capital for the party’s Azadi March.
Lahore turned into a battleground as multiple scuffles took place between the police and PTI actvists. Law enforcement is on high alert and the government has given instructions to take “all possible measures” to stop the PTI’s ‘Azadi March’.
PTI Chairman Imran Khan is leading the march from Swabi, which he has said will be the “biggest” in Pakistan’s political history.
