The appointment of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MNA Abdul Qadir Patel as federal minister for health services has led to sharp criticism.
Qadir Patel was among the 34-member cabinet members of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif which took oath on Tuesday. He was been given the portfolio of National Health Services.

Former federal minister Ali Zaidi reminded that Qadir Patel is involved in the Hawks bay land case. Social media user also expressed outrage as Patel has been implicated in a wide range of corruption and criminals.
Other pointed how his predecessor Dr Faisal Sultan was an accomplished health practitioner as compared to Patel who has not experience in the health sector.
Dr Sultan, who served as Special Assistant on National Health Services, is an infectious diseases physician who has served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre from 2003 to 2020.

Qadir Patel was previously a member of the Sindh Assembly, while he was a member of the national assembly in 2008. He has been implicated in terrorist facilitation case for allegedly providing treatment to members of the Lyari gangwar.
On March 29 this year, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) granted protective bail to Qadir Patel in a case pertaining to the treatment and facilitation of terror suspects.
The case was registered on the complaint of Rangers against the PPP leader for allegedly treating and harbouring suspected terrorists and militants at the North Nazimabad and Clifton branches of a private hospital at the request of MQM and PPP leaders.
Former Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry also mocked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s cabinet, saying the list of the new cabinet members looks like an attendance sheet for the Central Jail.
