ISLAMABAD: The ruling coalition that came to the fore after the overthrow of the former Imran Khan government has reportedly split as PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has demanded immediate general elections.
According to details, other political parties including PPP, PML-N and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam were initially opposing the PTI’s demand for immediate elections, but the JUI has now backtracked from its earlier stance.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman, head of the Pakistan Democratic Movement, has said in his recent statement that the country needs immediate elections. The government is formed for a maximum of one year and its their responsibility to return the trust to the nation.
Indicating a split in the opposition alliance, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said, “We stand by our position.” There is a limit to expediency. The government should take advantage of the current assembly and make electoral reforms.

Regarding other electoral reforms including electronic voting machines in PTI era, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that if there is any defect in electoral reform, it should be rectified. The JUI has its own existence in the present government.
It should be noted that PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman Imran Khan is leading PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif and other political leaders to bring down the government.
