KARACHI: Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed a dull trading session on Monday but showed some activity in later day session to close on a positive note.
The benchmark KSE-100 index plunged in early morning session and reached the lowest point of 43,291.01 points. It eventually gained control in later-day trading and was reach the 44,000 points level before trading was suspended. The bouse increased by 382.41 points (0.88%) to close at 43,933.56 points. The total volume of shares were 59.114 million valued at Rs3.826 billion.
Of the 95 traded companies in the KSE100 Index, 68 closed up 20 closed down, while 7 remained unchanged. Sectors propping up the index were Cement with 120 points, Commercial Banks with 50 points, Automobile Assembler with 48 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 40 points and Pharmaceuticals with 21 points.
The lower bench KSE-30 index increased by 136.00 points (0.82%) and closed at 16,793.48 points. The total volume of shares was 37.386 million. The KMI 30 index gained 821.11 points (1.17%) and closed at 70,911.70 points, while the All Share Index gained 232.50 points (0.78%) and closed at 30,092.49 points. The total volume of share traded were 132.547 million at the stock market.
The highest number of shares traded belonged to Telecard Ltd (6.98%) which traded 13.122 million shares. This was followed by Worldcall Telecom Ltd (0.64%), K-Electric Ltd (3.78%), and Ghani Global Ltd (4.21%) The number of scrips traded were 6.664 million, 6.608million, and 6.171 million, respectively.
