PESHAWAR: After parting ways with the federal government, Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) on Monday announced a no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan.
BAP parliamentary leader in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Assembly Bilawal Afridi while talking to the media said that a no-confidence motion would be brought against Chief Minister Mahmood Khan.
Afridi said that his party is in contact with PTI MPAs, while all the opposition parties in the provincial assembly are in favor of the ousting of the chief minister.
The BAP leader further said that like former chief minister Punjab Usman Buzdar, PTI lawmakers in KPK are also angry with CM Mahmood Khan.
BAP has only 4 members out of 145 in the KPK assembly, while the incumbent provincial government enjoys a two-thirds majority in the assembly.
On March 19, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa leaders had also announced that the joint opposition has decided to file a no-trust motion against Chief Minister Mahmood Khan to oust Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government in the province.
PPP KP President Najmudddin Khan said the opposition parties, including JUI-F, ANP, and PPP, are on the same page and will bring a no-confidence motion to oust the PTI-led KP government.
“At least 45 MPAs from the PTI are in contact with the opposition parties,” he said, adding that a no-trust motion will be submitted in the KP Assembly after voting on the trust move against PM Imran Khan in the National Assembly.
