KARACHI: The Acting Vice-Chancellor of Karachi University, Prof. Dr. Nasira Khatun has started favouring the close associates of Arshad Azmi and people belonging to a specific group have been appointed on the administrative and important designations at the university.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Prof. Nasira Khatun, who has been appointed on temporary basis in Karachi University on the basis of seniority, has also affected seniority by appointing people close to Arshad Azmi to dozens of key positions while there is a possibility of more transfer postings in next few days.
Acting Vice Chancellor Dr. Nasira Khatun first appointed Ziaullah, a junior officer of Grade 16, as Secretary to the Vice Chancellor, the post of Grade 18, contrary to the rules, while SNE has the post of Secretary to the Vice Chancellor, Grade 18 and PA’s post is grade 17. In addition, Corolla GL7612 has also been given to Ziaullah for use whose allotment order has not been issued yet.
Maqsood Ansari, who has a political background, has been appointed as the registrar in place of the registrar Abdul Waheed. Maqsood Ansari belongs to the Arshad Azmi Group, the founder and head of Tag, and was also a member of the current elected body of the Teachers Association.

Imran Tahir, who is posted in Grade 17 on ad hoc basis in Human Resources of the university, is also likely to be appointed as State Officer. In addition, according to the letter issued on March 21, Naeem-ur-Rehman son of Saeed-ur-Rehman posted in the Engineering Department has been posted in the State Office and Deputy Executive Engineer Muhammad Fahad, posted in Umar Bhasha Institute of Technology (UBIT) has been posted in the selection board of the university. It may be mentioned that the names of acting VC Dr Nasira and Iqbal Azhar and others were sent to Sindh Chief Minister for promotion in Grade 22 after the selection board.
The Vice-Chancellor, who has the honor of being the first woman VC on the basis of centenary, is still holding the charge of Dean of Science, while the charge of Deanship of Science can be given to another senior professor and she too can be given the honor of Deanship.
