ISLAMABAD: Several government lawmakers are allegedly hiding in Islamabad’s Sindh House for horse trading ahead of the no-confidence motion against the prime minister.
According to sources, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has also deployed additional personnel in Sindh House. It has also been revealed that opposition has also kept government members hidden in Parliament Lodges.
The government has also come to know the names of those members, including three women MNAs, who have hidden by the opposition. Sources said that there have been backdoor contacts with the opposition for the voluntary return of government lawmakers or else action will be taken.
It must be noted that Prime Minister Imran Khan had earlier termed the Sindh House as the hub of horse trading where conscience of lawmakers were being traded.
Addressing a rally in Swat, he said that “bags of notes” were being used from Sindh House in Islamabad for horse trading and buying conscience of the members of parliament like Nawaz Sharif did in Changa Manga in the past.
“Does the Constitution allow horse trading? Does any democracy in the world allow this? Is this practice allowed in UK, the democracy to which we follow?” he remarked, while posing a question to the Election Commission of Pakistan.
Prime Minister Imran Khan lashed out at the opposition parties over alleged use of money to buy loyalties of government lawmakers, saying the money belonged to the people of Sindh.
The premier appeared confident to defeat the no-confidence motion against him, saying he will take “three wickets in one ball”. He said the PPP, JUI-F, and PML-N brought the no-confidence motion against him as they were afraid that they will end up in prison if the PTI stayed in power for longer. “I will hunt the three mice who are out to hunt me.”
Speaking about the upcoming PTI rally in Islamabad, he urged the people to come to Islamabad on March 27 – a day ahead of the no-confidence vote – to show that they stood with truth.
