Rashid, Buzdar vow to fight against ‘politics of chaos’

LAHORE: Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed and Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar met on Saturday at the latter’s office in Lahore, where they reiterated that Opposition will fail to oust Prime Minister Imran Khan through a no-confidence motion.

Special Assistant to Chief Minister and Punjab Government’s Spokesperson Hasaan Khawar, federal secretary interior, Punjab chief secretary, Inspector General Punjab Police and other senior officials attended the meeting.

“The short-sighted opposition has considered no-confidence motion a child’s play. These rejected people are talking about no-confidence motion just to satisfy their desire,” Rashid was quoted as saying in the meeting.

According to the statement, both the leaders strongly condemned the opposition’s politics of “chaos and anarchy” and reiterated to deal with their negative tactics “till the last breath”.

The interior minister said that opposition parties indulged in “negative politics” should realise that the PTI-led government was strong and will complete its constitutional term under the leadership of PM Imran.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Buzdar said the opposition was trying to politically destabilise the country just to enter in the corridors of power.

“No-trust motion is just another dead horse of the defeated opposition. Those who are interested and fond of bringing no-confidence motion should definitely do so but the government is not afraid of this hollow stunt,” he remarked.

He went on to say that the opposition was fully aware that the government had the required votes in the National Assembly to thwart opposition’s no-trust bid.

Both the leaders also discussed other matters of mutual interest including the ongoing development projects in Rawalpindi. On the occasion, the chief minister also gave issuance letter of funds of Rs100 million to the interior minister for Government Associate College for Girls.

Both the officials also jointly chaired a meeting to review law and order situation in the province and measures taken to safeguard the life and property of the masses.

The meeting agreed upon the comprehensive coordination between Punjab government and the Centre to maintain the law and order situation in the province.

The chief minister directed officials concerned to take all possible steps for ensuring safety of life and property of the people.
