KARACHI: Trading activity remained lacklustre at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Friday, where the index traded in a narrow band closing flat ahead of Monetary Policy announcement.
The market opened on a positive note and remained volatile throughout the session, ending almost flat. The KSE-100 Index moved in a range of 253.58 points, showing an intraday high of 45,987.88 points and a low of 45,734.30 points.
At close, the benchmark KSE-100 index recorded a increase of 0.25 points to settle at 45,763.45 points. A total of 349 companies traded shares in the stock exchange, out of them shares of 141 closed up, shares of 198 closed down while shares of 20 companies remained unchanged.
Volumes decreased, clocking in at 239.98 million on the all-share index, down from 327.60 million on Thursday. The value of shares traded also declined, albeit marginally, to Rs6.10 billion from Rs6.48 billion.
Unity Foods Limited was the volume leader with 26.27 million shares, followed by WorldCall Telecom with 25.14 million shares, and Cnergyico PK with 23.68 million shares.
