LAHORE: PML-N President and Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif has said the PTI government’s “criminal negligence, incompetence and corruption” are behind the worst gas crisis in the country.
“The ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) had promised to provide gas to domestic consumers at least three times a day, but this did not happen,” the PML-N president said in a statement issued on Friday.
Shehbaz Sharif pointed out that the children were forced to go to school hungry but the government was not aware of it, adding “our mothers, sisters and daughters are also having difficulty in cooking”.
He went on to say that the gas crisis in the country prevails due to the incompetence and corruption of Imran Niazi, adding that there was not even enough gas in the houses for women to cook, while the gas supply to the industry is being cut off.
“Despite the terminals built by Nawaz Sharif, the gas crisis signified the extreme incompetence of the government. This regime is the only reason behind this crisis because there was a terminal and capacity but the government had failed to provide gas in a timely and reasonable manner,” he added.
He said this situation could have been avoided today if the government had focused on the issues of gas supply and public convenience instead of constantly lying and forcibly passing black laws.
He said that these crises would only end by getting rid of this government. The people had been thrown helplessly in front of the demons of inflation, unemployment, misery and agony. After the flour and sugar crisis, this gas shortage and inflation were absolute cruelty by this government, he lamented.
