ISLAMABAD: Attorney General of Pakistan Khalid Jawed Khan has said that the funding of the Election Commission is the legal responsibility of the government and it is the duty of the state to fulfill it.
According to details, the PTI’s federal government recently announced that funding would not be provided if the Election Commission did not use electronic voting machines. The attorney general said funding could not be linked to any particular procedure.
Regarding the confrontation on EVM, the Attorney General said that the last word on the election procedure would be that of the Election Commission. The Commission needs to be satisfied with the electoral process. Officials said that no decision has been made on the use of the voting machine in the next election.

Election Commission officials said that the commission is not against the use of electronic voting machines (EVMs). We have set up committees to look into logistics, procurement, and law matters on EVMs, the recommendations of which will be put before the Commission.
Commission officials on the use of EVMs say that the final decision on whether or not to use electronic voting machines in the next general election will be made by the Election Commission. Machines will be manufactured according to the situation and geography of the country.
