ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry on Sunday slammed opposition parties over holding anti-government protests, terming the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) an ‘unholy alliance’.
Taking to Twitter, the information minister said that terming the Opposition’s movement against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) “merely an effort to stay relevant in the news”.

“Opposition parties in Pakistan are an unholy alliance, with some divided into groups of one and others intro three. They don’t have any leaders, nor do they have any programmes,” Fawad Chaudhry added.
The federal minister maintained that their movement against the “only federal party” (PTI) was nothing more than an attempt to stay relevant. “The only national political party is the PTI, whose agenda is the national agenda,” he added.
The minister’s statement comes a day after the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) announced that it would stage a series of rallies in the provincial capitals and finally a long march from Lahore to Islamabad against the PTI-led government for its anti-people policies and the rising inflation.
Besides agreeing to organise a long march, the leaders also announced holding anti-inflation protest rallies in the provinces. “A protest will be held in Karachi on November 13, followed by one in Quetta on November 17 and in Peshawar on November 20,” read a statement issued following the meeting.
