KARACHI: Pakistan Navy and Customs Intelligence conducted a successful Intelligence Based Operation apprehended liquor at Kund Malir sea near Ormara.
A statement said Pakistan Navy, Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate Gwadar jointly conducted the raid. The confiscated liquor comprising of approximately 5,400 bottles was valued around Rs70.5 million
It said the successful execution of joint Anti-Narcotics Operation was a demonstration of Pakistan Navy resolve to deter, dissuade and disrupt all illegal activities in the maritime zones of Pakistan.
Pakistan Navy remained fully vigilant to thwart any unlawful act along our coastline and sea, contributing effectively to ensure maritime security in the region, it added.
Pakistan Navy inducts two tugs
Earlier this week, Pakistan Navy inducted two newly built tugs by Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works (KS&EW) during a handing over ceremony held at PN Dockyard.
Commander Pakistan Navy Fleet, graced the occasion as chief guest. The ceremony was attended by high ranking officials from Pakistan Navy and engineers and workers of KSEW.
Vice Admiral Naveed Ashraf said construction of these tugs at Karachi Shipyard was yet another example of sheer hard work and dedication by the engineers and workers of KS&EW.
He appreciated the timely delivery of these tugs, despite the COVID-19 pandemic and other challenges. He congratulated all stakeholders particularly the management and workforce of Karachi shipyard for achieving this important milestone.
The tugs have a length of 25 metres with a displacement of 250 tons. It has maximum speed of 12 knots and is propelled by two diesel engines having azimuth drive propulsion system with automated integrated machinery and tug handling system.
These tugs are equipped with two diesel generators, a diesel driven fire pump, navigational radar, fire fighting system, deck crane, sewerage treatment plant and towing arrangements.
