DUSHANBE: Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the Taliban government wants to assert themselves as a reality in Afghanistan.
According to details, in an interview with International Media (ART), a major humanitarian crisis could be averted if the international community supports Afghanistan’s new government. PM Imran Khan said that he did not know whether the United States was ready to recognize the Taliban government or not.
“However, President Joe Biden has made a wise decision and I understand,” Imran Khan was quoted as saying in an interview. He also received many unfair criticisms while Pakistan wants peace in Afghanistan.
Talking during the interview, PM Imran Khan said that Afghan soil was being used against Pakistan by three terrorist groups. “Afghanistan is the most important issue in the region which is at a critical juncture as the propaganda campaign against Pakistan continues. Why didn’t 300,000 Afghan soldiers fight? Did Pakistan stop?”, asked the prime minister asked.
During the talks, PM Imran Khan said that there was a danger of terrorism from Afghan soil. The former Afghan government was incompetent, corrupt, and lacked good governance, which led to baseless propaganda to divert attention, while the United States lost 20,000 billion during the 20-year Afghan war. The joint government is the only hope for peace in Afghanistan.
The prime minister said that going in the wrong direction of Afghanistan could lead to human tragedy, crisis, chaos, refugee problems, and terrorism. “What will be the future of Afghanistan? It cannot be predicted. In the eyes of Afghans, the former Afghan government had no respect, while the Afghan people made great sacrifices,” he asserted.
In response to a question, the prime minister said that most Afghan refugees would turn to Pakistan and Iran. “The Afghan people call the war against external forces jihad. India is influenced by the ideology of the RSS, which unilaterally changed the constitutional status of Kashmir on August 5. Since then, Pak-India ties have been severed,” PM Khan maintained.
On the Kashmir issue, PM Imran Khan said that unless India gives constitutional status to Kashmir and unilateral steps taken on August 5 are withdrawn, there can be no dialogue between Pakistan and India on this issue. The international community is deeply concerned about human rights in Afghanistan but is silent on the atrocities in Kashmir, the prime minister added.
He said that 30,000 to 40,000 Kashmiri women were raped by Indian forces. “I pray for a solution to the Kashmir issue. If that happened then there would be a desire to rid the subcontinent of nuclear weapons. Saudi Arabia is our closest ally. Developing countries will be affected by the Iran-Saudi Arabia conflict,” the prime minister further added.
