DUSHANBE: Prime Minister Imran Khan has invited the business community of Tajikistan to invest their capital in Pakistan, assuring them of all out facilitation and incentives by his government.
Addressing the Pakistan-Tajikistan Joint Business Forum on Thursday, the prime minister said his government was already on the course of incentivizing and facilitating own business sector through different measures.
The premier said Pakistan was envy to have cheap deal for hydro power generation and called for expeditious execution of CASA-1000 project to make Pakistan benefit from clean energy.
“Pakistan is a 220 million nation and a huge market for investment,” he said, inviting the business community to invest in Pakistan. “We will provide every help possible to investors in Pakistan,” he added.
He said the current Pak-Tajik trade was a miniscule and far below than the existing potential and the Tajik investors would look how the government was incentivizing the business sector.
PM Imran Khan briefly spoke on the Afghanistan issue, saying that peace in the country was vital for the region’s progress. The prime minister wished that peace was established in the country after 40 years of conflict.
Later, the prime minister along with his commerce advisor also responded to the questions from both Pakistani and Tajik businessmen.
The prime minister is currently visiting here on two-day visit mainly to attend the SCO Summit here and is accompanied by high level delegation including the representatives of 67 companies of multiple sectors including textiles, minerals, pharmaceuticals, logistics and others.
Tajik Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda received PM Imran Khan at the airport. Accompanied by a high-level ministerial delegation, the prime minister will hold bilateral meetings with other leaders on the sidelines of the SCO Summit.
The SCO summit is the first meeting of the heads of states since the Taliban’s takeover of Kabul and all eyes will be on the Afghan representative at the meeting. Afghanistan has an observer status and has been striving for full membership of the organisation.
