ISLAMABAD: The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has banned travelling without a vaccination certificate after August 1 as cases rise across the country.
According to a statement by the forum, visitors to tourist spots aged 30 and above will not be allowed without a vaccination certificate. Hotels have also been prohibited from taking bookings for those without vaccination certificates. It warned of a ban on tourist spots if cases continue to rise.
The forum said vaccinations must be expedited and all workers must get inoculated by July 31 due to the “extremely dangerous” Delta variant of coronavirus which could lead to a fourth wave.
The NCOC has developed a plan of action to tackle the variants that have emerged across the country. It said that the failure to take precautionary measures against the Delta variant can lead to dangerous consequences.
It observed that due to the Delta variant, hundreds of thousands of people in India died, and coupled with a shortage of oxygen, countless people suffered. The forum decided that enforcement of safety precautions would be ramped up, especially during the July 9-18 period.
It added that various proposals are under consideration to curb unnecessary movement on Eid-il-Azha which will be announced soon. It added that the decision to implement the proposals will be made keeping in view the spread of the virus.
All workers associated with the agriculture and media sectors, lawyers, factory workers, and those who work in markets, including cart vendors must be vaccinated by July 31.
Furthermore, all workers associated with the transport and hotel industry, gymnasium workers, employees of mosques including imams, workers at workshops, and wedding halls must also be vaccinated. Students aged 18 and above are required to get vaccinated by August 31.
