LAHORE: Ahmadi community, who has been declared a non-Muslim minority in the Constitution of Pakistan, is forcibly converting innocent Muslim women by marrying them.
Several similar cases were reported in the past year in Peshawar, Chiniot and Lahore. A man, belonging to Ahmadiyya community, was arrested for deceitfully marrying a Muslim woman by concealing his faith and also uploading her objectionable pictures on social media.
According to the documents received by M.M News, the Ahmadi, who have been declared a non-Muslim minority in the Constitution of Pakistan, are forcibly converting innocent Muslim women by marrying them. Several similar cases were reported in the past year in Peshawar, Chiniot and Lahore.
The man, identified as Shehzad Ashraf, disguised himself as a Muslim and married a Muslim woman namely Hina Saeed on December 12, 2011. He later tried to forcibly convert his wife. However, after she refused, Shehzad shared her immoral pictures on social media.
Shehzad Ashraf also concealed the Nikahnama (marriage certificate) from his wife. On July 30, 2020, the victim complained to the police regarding their fight, where it was revealed that Shahzad Ashraf belongs to Ahmadiyya community.
Later, the police revealed that one of the suspect’s brothers is the president of Majlis-e-Khudam-e-Ahmadiyya Lahore and the other brother represents Ahmadiyya community in the meetings of Shiraz police station.
On April 1, 2021, Shehzad Ashraf claimed that he had embraced Islam. Meanwhile, Shehzad Ashraf went home and made immoral pictures of his wife and posted on social media in order to suppress the matter of Ahmdiyya community.
FIA cyber crime wing Lahore registered a FIR against Shahbaz Ashraf on a complaint of his wife, Hina Saeed, and arrested him. The FIR includes offences under sections 20, 21 and 24 of Prevention of Electronic Crime Act 2016 and sections 109, 419, and 493 of Pakistan Penal Code.
According to the FIA, the suspect contracted marriage with the complainant concealing his faith, and fathered two children. ”The suspect also uploaded objectionable pictures of the complainant on social media. The FIA has recovered the pictures from his mobile phone at the time of arrest,” it said.
In May, Ashraf filed a post-arrest bail petition in the court which was denied by the sessions court Lahore. The suspect’s counsel told the court that his client solemnize nikah (marriage) with the complainant and he embraced Islam on April 1, 2021. He also presented a certificate to the effect.
Opposing the bail petition, a counsel for the complainant said the suspect being an Ahmadi contracted a second marriage with the complainant by concealing his faith for nine years. He said the suspect embraced Islam in 2021, therefore, a criminal offence was made out.
According to Hana Saeed, Shehzad Ashraf’s brother Shiraz has also deceitfully married a Muslim woman. On the other hand, religious scholars have raised concerns over the issue, saying that proper legislation was urgently needed to stop this move from Ahmadiyya community.
