ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhary Fawad Hussain has said that Hudaibiya Paper Mills case is a story of fraud worth Rs1242 million which is biggest scam than Panama Leaks.

In a series of tweets, Fawad Chaudhary said that there was no trial held for this case even after detailed investigation. The minister further said the judge who had ordered to wrap up the case himself owned foreign assets as per Panama Leaks. No probe was initiated against him as well, he added.

He said the Sharif family resorted to various provisions of the Protection of Economic Reforms Act, 1992 for money laundering and fraudulently opened various fake foreign currency accounts and deposited a lot of wealth in them.

Fawad Chaudhry said that the investigation revealed that there was a huge amount of illicit capital in the coffers of Mian Muhammad Sharif, Shamim Akhtar, Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif, Abbas Sharif, Maryam Safdar, Sabiha Abbas, Hussain Nawaz and Hamza Shahbaz. “They are unable to reveal the source of this wealth,” he added.

Fawad Chaudhry said that some new facts have been surfaced in Hudaibiya case due to which, it has been decided to launch new inquiry. “We hope that the court will now also bring the judge, who facilitated the Sharif family, to the justice,” he asserted.

Fawad Chaudhary urged the national institutions to play their role as the future of Pakistan is associated with the supremacy of the law.

Earlier, the minister said the federal government had decided a fresh investigation into the Hudaibiya Paper Mills case. He said that the legal team gave a detailed briefing to Prime Minister Imran Khan regarding the cases of PML-N president Mian Shehbaz Sharif.

He said that the government decided that the case of Hudaibiya Paper Mills needed a fresh investigation and in this regard, the concerned agencies were being asked to reopen the investigation. Fawad Chaudhry said that the Hudaibiya case is the most important source to expose the corruption of the Sharif family.
