LAHORE: Pakistan captain Babar Azam today (Thursday) has asserted that the national team needed changes in its Twenty20 International (T20) and One Day International (ODI) squads to make it better.
Addressing a virtual press conference in Harare ahead of second Zimbabwe Test, Babar Azam said that Men in Green needed to find a reliable batsman in the middle-order who could finish games.
The Pakistan captain also announced the 13-man squad for the second Test against Zimbabwe. The captain said Faheem Ashraf, Abid Ali, Imran Butt, Azhar Ali, Tabish Khan, Sajid Khan, and Haris Rauf were among the 13 picked.
“We will play with a winning combination,” he said, adding that the team had played well during the first Test and had won it in three days. “We did well on all fronts — bowling, batting, and fielding,” he added.
Azam added that the playing XI will be decided after assessing the pitch and weather conditions, tomorrow. Pakistan will go into the second Test match with their heads held high after the visitors thrashed Zimbabwe by an innings and 116 runs.
The visitors won the first Test match courtesy splendid bowling performance by Hasan Ali, who bagged match figures of 9/89, and a century, 140, by left-handed middle-order batsman Fawad Alam.
The second Test match between Pakistan and Zimbabwe will take place on May 7. The green shirts already lead the Test series 1-0.
