KARACHI: Sindh government has decided to take back the education ministry’s portfolio from Education and Labour Minister Saeed Ghani over weak performance, sources said on Monday.
Sources said PPP’s leadership is not satisfied with the education minister’s performance especially transfers and posting of officials in the education department across the province.
Sources further said the other reason the PPP’s leadership expressed dissatisfaction over the headmasters of government schools who had passed the IBA test staged a protest outside the provincial Assembly for days, demanding permanent jobs. The matter is yet to be resolved, sources added.
Earlier, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah expressed displeasure over the performance of Ghani after the female teachers requested the provincial government that they had been serving in schools for more than 10 years, but they were not given permanent status in services and also deprived of three months salaries.
Sources disclosed that the provincial government was expected to appoint Murtaza Wahab or another person to lead the education ministry.
Sources said, “There is a possibility of an early cabinet reshuffle in which some new ministers could be added, while some portfolios could be withdrawn.”
Sindh government had decided to transfer the control of local bodies’ schools to Sindh education department for their betterment and the legal aspects of transferring control of all educational institutions to Sindh education department were being reviewed.
