ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Zaidi said that he has recognised the voices of the PTI lawmakers in the leaked video involving Ali Haider Gilani and PPP minister Nasir Hussain Shah and has informed the prime minister.
While speaking to a private news channel, the minister said many revelations have been made regarding horse-trading in the Senate elections and he has apprised the prime minister about them.
He claimed that the lawmakers in the video involving former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani’s son Ali Haider were the same as those who can be heard in the audio involving the Sindh minister. He said he has identified them and has informed the prime minister.
Ali Zaidi further said that other than the government, it was the responsibility of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to maintain the sanctity of the ballot. He said they have struggled for the transparency of the voting process.
He said the opposition was making hue and cry over the defeat of the government on a single seat. He added that the prime minister has chosen the constitutional path and decided to take a vote of confidence from parliament.
Days before the Senate elections, a video of Ali Haider Gillani has surfaced which showed exposed him “buying vote” for upcoming upper house polls The video showed him asked PTI MNAs to “sell his vote”. Ali Haider Gillani was also seen telling the PTI lawmaker how to waste his Senate vote.
