LAHORE: Punjab government has withdrawn all restrictions after a decrease in coronavirus cases in the province.
According to a notification issued by Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare, restrictions imposed in the province under Punjab Infectious Diseases (Prevention and Control) Ordinance 2020 have been withdrawn.
The notification further said the restrictions of limited working hours for business activities and leisure places, the condition of 50 percent staff of offices working at homes have been taken back.
Secretary Health retired Capt. Muhammad Usman in a statement said the shrines will also open their doors in the province from March 15.
Earlier, the provincial government had ordered all shopping malls, restaurants, shops and marriage halls to shut by 10 pm amid an increasing number of COVID-19 cases. It had also ordered to close public parks and recreational spots by 6:00 pm.
According to the National Command and Control Center, the total number of deaths from coronavirus in Pakistan has reached 12,837 while the total number of affected people has reached 578,797.
The number of coronavirus cases in Islamabad is 44,106, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 72,003, in Sindh 257,730, in Punjab 170,817, in Balochistan 19,038, in Azad Kashmir 10,147 and in Gilgit-Baltistan 4,000. 956 people have been infected with Corona.
The highest number of deaths due to coronavirus was in Punjab where 5,337 people lost their lives while 4,335 in Sindh, 2,070 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 496 in Islamabad, 102 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 200 in Balochistan and 297 people have lost their lives in Azad Kashmir.
Coronavirus vaccination is underway in Pakistan and in the first phase, health workers are being vaccinated against coronavirus, while people above the age of 63 have also been vaccinated.
