ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Political Communication Dr. Shahbaz Gill has advised the leadership of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) to avoid violent politics and start fair politics in the country.
Talking to the media on Saturday Gill invited opposition parties to support electoral reforms to ensure transparency in elections. He said that there was now no chance of horse-trading in the Senate election.
“PTI’s stance was very clear from day first which was ‘Zero tolerance’ on sale and purchase of parliamentarians which was unfortunately happened in the past,” he added.
Gill asked the opposition parties to support the efforts of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) to hold open ballot Senate elections for ensuring transparency in polls. “We have no issue on running fair election campaign but we are totally against any financial benefits during Senate election for sake of wrong motives.”
Instead of supporting the government’s efforts to introduce electoral reforms, the opposition was creating a hurdle by opposing open balloting in the senate election, he added.
He said that opposition parties will not succeed in their immoral designs as their alliance is unnatural, adding that the entire nation knows who was behind the sale purchase of votes in the past and now, they are once again active for the same purpose.
The Special Assistant said that PTI’s popularity was increasing in public and expressed the hope that it would win the next general elections to be held in 2023. The politics of money needs to be ended and candidates should be elected on the basis of their capabilities, he added.
