ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has called an emergency meeting of the PTI parliamentary board today (Monday) after party workers raised voice over the distribution of tickets in the Senate elections.
According to details, the premier consulted party leaders on the issue of tickets and indicated that some decision might be changed. “All tickets will be issued on the basis of merit,” the prime minister told the participants of the meeting.
PM Imran Khan said that he respects the wishes of his party’s members, adding that parachuters will not be made senators. However, according to sources, final decision on the distribution of tickets is expected to take within the next 24 hours.
PTI’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter raised objections over the nomination of Najibullah Khattak, while PTI Sindh said they had a problem with the selection of Faisal Vawda and Saifullah Abro.
Meanwhile, according to sources, the ruling PTI has decided to replace some of its Senate candidates from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). Sources have informed that two changes are expected from the KP as the party has decided to withdraw a Senate ticket from Faisal Saleem, who would be replaced by Liaqat Khan Tarqai, who is set to retire as Senator in March this year.
