LAHORE: Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed the Punjab government to prepare complete data of politicians and retired government officials allegedly patronizing the land grabbers.

Addressing the participants at an event in Sahiwal on Friday, the PM said there were several complaints and information that many retired government officers and other political influential were giving shelter to the land grabbers while misusing their social positions and powers to illegally occupy government, commercial and residential lands in the province.

PM Imran said, “We require the identity of such state enemies, their criminal records, address, apparent occupation, and lands or properties occupied by them”, he said adding that it should also be ensured that whether it is commercial, residential or agricultural land.

He said that the government had taken action against Lahore’s largest land grabbing group, accusing former governments of supporting them in different areas of the province.

PM Imran alleged that a former premier was facilitating the land grabbers in Lahore. He appreciated  Punjab CM Buzdar for demolishing landgrabbers’ ‘palaces’. Prime Minister Imran Khan said that change has indeed been brought in Pakistan because for the first time ever “big thieves” are being held answerable.

Regarding the health facilities, he promised to provide health insurance to each and every person in Punjab. He said the government has decided that every person in Sahiwal will be given health insurance amounting to Rs750,000.

The prime minister pointed out that the government decided to start health insurance free for the people of Dera Ghazi Khan as it is the most underdeveloped area of the province.

The prime minister urged the Punjab chief minister to focus on improving education in government educational institutions.

PM Imran lamented how there were three different educational syllabuses being taught to students in one country. “The government has decided to implement a uniform syllabus in the country from this year,” the premier highlighted.

Talking about the plantation drive, the premier said that his administration was going for reforestation on lands that were captured by land grabbers who had cut down trees.

While addressing the ceremony, Chief Minister of Punjab Usman Buzdar hailed Sahiwal as “an important region of Punjab which is quickly coming to the front in terms of administrative and business opportunities.”

The Chief Minister announced development packages and infrastructure projects worth Rs200 billion regarding education, health, road development, sports complex, parks, an underpass, water supply and sewerage.
