ISLAMABAD: Minister for Human Rights Dr Shrieen M Mazari has said the inquiry into the Broadsheet saga would be completed and will share with the nation as the public would know about the final decision.
In a series of tweets, the minister said the opposition would scream and shout when the scale of their leaders’ money laundering and theft of the nation’s resources was becoming public.
“Opposition will scream & shout because the scale of their leader’s money laundering & theft of nation’s resources is becoming public as is the role of abettors complicit in cover-ups, faulty agreements & NROs, she added.
The Minister said the opposition did not want a judge who might know too much about their loot and scams but it is right of the nation to be apprised with facts.
She said Pakistan suffered twice due to the corrupt leaders and their allies and now people wanted to know who looted their money. “Getting Opposition’s approval for inquiry head is like a thief being asked to pick his own judge!”, she further said.

On Friday, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) had rejected the PTI-led federal government’s decision to appoint retired Supreme Court judge Azmat Saeed Sheikh as head of the Broadsheet inquiry committee.
PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said, “Conducting an investigation through someone who himself should be investigated is the murder of justice. Prime Minister Imran Khan, have the courage to tell the nation you need an NRO (National Reconciliation Ordinance).”
“An investigation from the former deputy prosecutor general of NAB was a bigger fraud than Broadsheet as he was a part of the original signing of the agreement with the anti-graft-body and was one of the negotiators in the deal,” added Marriyum.
Meanwhile, PPP Secretary General Nayyar Bukhari has asserted that the appointment of the former judge had exposed the government’s dishonesty, adding that the purpose of appointing Justice Sheikh was to cast all blame on the opposition and previous governments.
