Ali Zaidi, CM Murad seek PM’s intervention after verbal clash

ISLAMABAD: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Federal Minister for Shipping and Maritime Affairs Ali Zaidi penned letters to Prime Minister Imran Khan seeking his intervention after a terse exchange between the two during a meeting of the Karachi coordination committee on January 16.

In a series of tweets, Ali Zaidi presented his side of the story and said that during a meeting on January 16, he requested CM Sindh to include the devolution of organizations like Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) and Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) to divisional levels as committed by him months ago.

“CM Sindh replied by saying that I’m not answerable to you” 3 times. So if Mr. Know it all feels he’s not even answerable to elected members of the National Assembly from his province then there was no further need for me to waste my time sitting in that meeting and I walked out,” Ali Zaidi said.

The federal minister, while sharing his and CM Sindh’s letter to PM Imran, said that Murad Ali Shah had the audacity to write to the prime minister and his letter shows nothing but “arrogance and conceit” adding “he does not even have the etiquette and manners on how to address the office of the Prime Minister.”

Ali Zaidi further said that a high-powered committee of Federal and provincial ministers, chief minister, Chairman NDMA, heads of various law enforcement agencies held multiple meetings just to discuss how to clean garbage from storm drains and remove encroachments all because of a corrupt provincial government that has looted for decades.

CM Sindh then had the audacity to write to the PM… and his letter shows nothing but arrogance & conceit!

Last week, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Haider Zaidi exchanged harsh words during a meeting on Karachi Transformation Plan which has been formed to oversee megaprojects in the city.

The verbal brawl erupted when Ali Zaidi asked the chief minister when the Karachi Building Control Authority and Karachi Solid Waste Management Board will be formed. The chief minister replied that they were working on the projects but Ali Zaidi insisted on giving a date. The chief minister became furious over Zaidi’s questions and left the meeting abruptly saying that he was not answerable to him.
