ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has reserved its decision on the disqualification of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Faryal Talpur.
A five-member bench headed by Chief Election Commissioner heard the disqualification petition filed against Sindh Assembly member Faryal Talpur. Talpur’s lawyer Farooq H Naik appeared before the Election Commission and asked the court to declare the petition inadmissible.
Farooq H Naik took the position that the petition against Faryal Talpur was rejected by the Speaker Sindh Assembly. Member Election Commission Irshad Qaiser said that all legal points regarding this case will be reviewed.

The Election Commission has reserved its decision on the disqualification petition of Sindh Assembly member Faryal Talpur, which will be announced on 8th February. Moreover, Talpur and her brother Zardari were indicted in the mega-money laundering case. The counsel for prominent businessmen Hussain Lawai and Taha Raza who are currently under custody was given a copy of the charge sheet.
Omni Group chairman Anwar Majeed, who appeared via video link, was also indicted in the reference case. Majeed is currently on bail due to medical reasons. He also pleaded innocent and decided to contest the charges against him. His son Abdul Ghani Majeed has also been indicted.
