PM assures to visit Hazara families ‘very soon’, urges to bury victims

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has assured to visit the families of the victims killed in Machh area of Balochistan who have been protesting in Quetta for four days.

“I want to reassure the Hazara families who lost their loved ones in a brutal terrorist attack in Machh that I am cogniscant of their suffering and their demands,” said the prime minister in a statement on Twitter.

“We are taking steps to prevent such attacks in the future & know our neighbour is instigating this sectarian terrorism,” he added.

“I share your pain and have come to you before also to stand with you in your time of suffering. I will come again very soon to offer prayers and condole with all the families personally.”

The prime minister said he will never betray the people’s trust and urged the protestors to bury their loved ones so their souls find peace.

Earlier today, Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal also assured the protesting Hazaras that Prime Minister Imran Khan will visit Quetta, but requested them not to keep the burial of the  coal miners of as a condition to the visit.

The chief minister visited Imambargah Wali Asr in Hazara Town accompanied by Federal minister Ali Zaidi, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Zulfi Bukhari and National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri.

During his meeting with Hazara representatives, the chief minister assured that his government was working towards eradicating terrorism and it was the responsibility of the government to improve the situation in the city and province.

He expressed solidarity with the Hazara community and said the visit the families of the deceased. Ali Zaidi said that he had spoken to the prime minister who had also assured him that he would visit Quetta.

Ali Zaidi said those who have been martyred should be buried. He once again appealed to not keep the burial conditional on the visit. The visit came after talks between the government and members of the Hazara community to end the sit-in following the brutal killing of coal miners in Machh ended inconclusively. The protesters have insisted they would not bury the dead till the prime minister visits them.
