KARACHI: The nation is mourning the sixth anniversary of the callous terrorist attack on Army Public School in Peshawar that left around 148 people martyred, making it the deadliest act of terrorism in Pakistan’s history.

On December 16, 2014, at least 148 people including 131 students and 17 staff members were martyred and many others injured when terrorists attacked Army Public School Peshawar.

A number of activities and functions will be held across the country to remember the sacrifices of innocent children. In his message, Prime Minister Imran Khan reiterated the nation’s resolve towards national, regional, and world peace.

Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar reflected that December 16, 2014, was not only a dark day for Pakistan but for humanity as well.

اللہ سب کے بچوں کو شر سے محفوظ رکھے pic.twitter.com/WZ2cM40JsD

In his message, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said, “Bloodshed of innocent children and martyrs of the APS attack continue to shake the conscience of the nation until the perpetrators and facilitators of this gory crime were not brought to justice.”

The PPP Chairman saluted the martyred students and their brave parents. “Being the son of a martyr Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, I, and the PPP, stand in complete solidarity with these parents,” he added.

PML-N vice-president Maryam Nawaz said, “The terrorists snatched children and our future. The martyrs were avenged by the armed forces during her father, Nawaz Sharif’s, government.”
