LAHORE: A local court in Lahore has directed Pakistan skipper Babar Azam and his family to stop harassing Hamiza Mukhatar, the woman who has alleged that she was raped by the cricketer.
Additional Sessions Judge Abid Raza heard Mukhatar’s petition. Earlier, the court had requested the police for feedback on the petition.
Mukhatar in its petition alleged that Babar raped her and gave false guarantees of marriage. She had contended her case within the court docket of Additional District and Session Judge Numan Muhammad Naeem.
She further said that Babar had illicit relations along with her and she became pregnant. She said the player forced her to abort after the promise of marriage. The petitioner annexed her medical documents as evidence.
The woman disclosed that when she tried to register an FIR against the cricketer at the Naseerabad Police Station, Babar made her withdraw the application on marriage re-assurance.
Nevertheless, after earning fame in the sport, Babar refused to marry her, Mukhatar said. Following this, the woman said she again approached the concerned police station but they refused to register her complaint.
Last week, the matter first got the media’s attention when Mukhatar leveled allegations of violence and sexual abuse against the cricketer in a press conference in Lahore.
The woman has threatened to set herself ablaze in front of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) if she failed to get justice. She also provided documents regarding “abortion” at a local hospital.
She also threatened to continue to protest against Babar at every forum till she got justice for all the wrongdoings done by Babar to her. She also demanded of the PCB to remove Babar from captaincy at once.
Babar Azam is currently in New Zealand for a three-match Twenty20 and two-match Test series against the hosts and could not be reached for comment.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Director of Media and Communications Samiul Hassan, however, said that this was Babar’s private matter and that they could not comment on it.
