ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry has said that the ‘friends’ of outlawed organization Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) are supervising the rally in Karachi on the 13th anniversary of the Karsaz tragedy.
On a social media website Twitter, the minister said that on this day in 2007, 180 people were killed as blasts rocked a rally held to accord a warm welcome to Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Benazir Bhutto in Karachi. TTP had claimed the responsibility for the attacks, he added.
Fawad Chaudhry said that Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) is holding a rally on the same place and date in Karachi.

Meanwhile, The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), is all set to hold a second rally at Bagh-e-Jinnah in Karachi today (Sunday) as a part of its anti-government campaign.
PDM’s central leadership is expected to address the gathering. This includes JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz, former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Ahsan Iqbal, Maulana Shah Owais Noorani, Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, Dr Jehanzeb Jamaldini, and others.
PDM president and JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman have arrived in Karachi whereas Maryam is scheduled to land in the city today.
PPP’s Karachi leader Najmi Alam said that arrangements had been made to ensure 50,000 seats were present inside the venue for participants.
Meanwhile, 160 feet long and 60 feet wide stage has been placed in Karachi’s Jinnah Bagh while over 50,000 chairs have also been arranged to facilitate the participants.
Routes have also been defined for the caravans coming from across the Sindh and other parts of the country.
