KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) central information secretary Dr Nafisa Shah has said that the PTI government was using the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for political victimization, but the leaders of her party could not be frightened through such tactics.
While addressing a press conference with Palwasha Khan at Bilawal House Karachi on Wednesday, Shah claimed that NAB’s black law and the government of Prime Minister Imran Khan would be eliminated soon with the power of the people.
Shah said NAB has become a hollow institution, adding that NAB should stop political engineering in the country.
She said that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government was making people jobless instead of providing jobs to the youth. The country was in the grip of inflation and price hike, she added.
The PPP leader said Prime Minister Imran Khan must fulfill promises he had made with the people of the country.
She said that they would not allow the Centre to “rob Sindh of its rights”. The PPP leadership was not afraid of accountability… but it was in favor of across-the-board accountability and would not accept “political revenge” under the garb of accountability, she said.
According to Nafisa Shah, the current economic turmoil was due to targeted operations by the government against the opposition. Such intolerance, she said, had destabilized the country that led to the downfall of stocks and devaluation of the rupee.
The PPP leader said that the Prime Minister himself addressed the lawyers’ convention which was also taken note of by the court. “The Prime Minister does not know the law. Nafisa Shah said traders have also opposed the Tiger Force. It will become the Taliban. We will go to court against it,” she added.
Palwasha Khan said that Prime Minister Imran Khan was in the habit of targeting opposition leaders by describing them as corrupt elements, but he (PM) failed to take action against people of his own party for their involvement in corrupt practices.
She said that they were not against accountability, but the process must be transparent, impartial and fair. The government should immediately stop targeting leaders of the opposition parties across the country, Khan added.
