KARACHI: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has demanded an end to ethnic politics and held the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) and PTI responsible for Karachi’s dismal civic condition.
In response to Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan’s march, the PPP took out a Karachi solidarity rally today (Sunday). A huge amount of supporters participated in the rally.
Addressing the rally, Sindh education minister Saeed Ghani said, “Today’s rally is against the people who aim at dividing Sindh,” adding that people belonging to all ethnicities were present in the rally.
The provincial minister strongly criticized Prime Minister Imran Khan and alleged that the premier was backing the MQM-P’s stance to divide Sindh. “The citizens have rejected the politics of MQM-P and the PPP’s rally has proved it,” he added.
On the occasion, PPP Sindh president Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said that the people who practiced the politics of hatred had destroyed generations. “Ones aiming to capture Karachi should stop dreaming about it,” he added.
“Stop spreading hate. We have no space for ethnicity and sectarianism,” he said. Khuhro further said that the PPP aimed to rehabilitate those trapped under the weight of inflation caused during the PTI government’s tenure.
The PPP’s rally came after Karachi’s infrastructure was severely damaged due to the recent torrential rains. The Sindh government was severely criticized for its handling of the metropolis’ civic issues.
In this regard, a historic Rs1,100 billion Karachi development package was jointly launched to cater to the city’s diverse problems.
