KARACHI: Sindh Education and Labour Minister Saeed Ghani has refuted the rumours regarding the closure of schools in the province as ‘baseless’, as provincial authorities begin imposing micro smart lockdowns in Karachi.
“No decision has been made to shut down schools,” Saeed Ghani said while addressing a press conference along with Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) leader Waqar Mehdi.
Referring to the micro-smart lockdown, Saeed Ghani said that the authorities have imposed a micro lockdown for now. “People should not force the government to impose a complete lockdown,” he added.
In this regard, the provincial minister urged the people of Sindh to follow the government-issued standard operating procedures (SOPs).
The development comes after several areas in Karachi were put under a micro smart lockdown following an increase in coronavirus cases, including Creek Vista Apartments Block A, Phase VIII, DHA, Askari III, Civil Lines, Saddar, and Manghopir.
The minister also announced a public rally on Sunday (October 4) in Karachi, in response to Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan’s march.
Ghani claimed that PPP’s rally will be a success and thousands of people will participate in it. “MQM-P has always fumed linguistic politics, whereas PPP does not believe in this theory,” he added.
Talking about the Baldia Factory case, Saeed Ghani informed that the provincial government was mulling over filing an appeal against the decision. “Some people have not been indicted in the case,” Ghani added.
