MULTAN: A dominating opening partnership between Sharjeel Khan and Khurram Manzoor drove Sindh to a seven-wicket victory over Central Punjab in the sixth game of the National T20 Cup.
Chasing a target of 155 runs, Sharjeel and Manzoor formed a 134-run partnership to bat Central Punjab out of the match.
Sharjeel Khan played a 77 runs knock that included nine fours and two sixes, while Khurram Manzoor scored 50 from 46 balls with six boundaries to his name.
The openers departed in the space of three deliveries, however, captain Sarfaraz Ahmed (7*) and middle-order batsman Azam Khan (13) knocked off the remaining runs with relative ease.
Batting first, after winning the toss, Central Punjab posted 154/7 after a disciplined bowling effort by Sindh. Wicketkeeper-batsman Abid Ali scored 58 off 41 deliveries after hitting six boundaries and a maximum.
For Sindh, pacer Sohail Khan was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/31 in four overs. Left-arm spinner Mohammad Asghar claimed two wickets.
Earlier in the day, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) registered their first win in the ongoing National T20 Cup with a thumping eight-wicket victory over Balochistan in Multan.
Captain Mohammad Rizwan led his side from the front in the run chase. The wicketkeeper-batsman was the top scorer with 57 off 42 deliveries with the help of five boundaries and two sixes.
