Will ensure implementation on PDM’s agenda against govt: Nawaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif has said the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) will implement on its agenda against the PTI government and will initiate a movement against the government soon.

Speaking during the PML-N’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting via video link on Wednesday, Nawaz claimed that those who followed the Constitution are languishing in jails and facing politically motivated cases.

The meeting was called to discuss the situation arising out of Shehbaz’s arrest and to devise a future plan in light of the current political situation, PML-N spokeswoman Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Twitter.

He further said Shehbaz Sharif has shown exemplary bravery and boldness and stood by the party’s manifesto despite odds. “Shehbaz Sharif served the nation with honesty and I salute him,” he added.

The PML-N supremo said that the former Punjab CM worked day and night and established powerhouses to generate electricity in the province.

He highlighted, “I am proud of the PML-N president who stood by his brother in hard times and did not surrender to government’s pressure.”

Nawaz said that the treatment being meted out to our children and PML-N leaders by government institutions is shameful and condemnable.

He remarked, “I cannot live like a slave anymore in my country and have decided to live an honorable life. Nawaz predicted, “If nation stood against this fake government, the change will become certain.”

He said, “The credit for Punjab’s development goes to Khwaja Asif Shehbaz Sharif and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi as they worked day and night for the province.”

Nawaz pointed out that former finance minister Ishaq Dar also played a crucial role in the uplift of the country as he provided funds for the projects.

He also appreciated those government officials who played role in controlling the energy crisis in the country during PML-N’s government occupancy.

The PML-N leader criticized the government and said that the country is in grip of an economic, energy crisis and the nation faces unemployment. The government has failed to give relief to people while inflation has raised manifolds, he added.

He alleged the county’s institution and said “People tell me that someone else is running the parliament. Other people come and give directions about the day’s schema and voting on bills,” he said.

This is the second speech by the former premier after his first appearance during the All Parties Conference. In his earlier speech, Nawaz Sharif said that his fight is against “those who selected Imran Khan”.

Nawaz was convicted on corruption-related charges by the accountability court after a long court battle in the wake of ICIJ’s Panama Papers leaks, was allowed to leave jail for London last year due to serious issues to his health.

He also criticized state institutions and alleged the government of rigging the 2018 election.
