ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has vowed that the government will bring back former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from London by using all legal means that are available.
During a federal cabinet on Tuesday, PM Imran asserted that it is necessary to bring back Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo to Pakistan with the help of British authorities.
PM said, “The government will approach the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) which will in turn ask the foreign ministry to put in a request to the British government for the PML-N supremo’s extradition”.
Imran Khan said that Nawaz Sharif departed to London under the pretext of illness. “However, he neither undergoes any medical test nor sends his health reports sought by the government and courts,” he claimed.
On this occasion, Adviser to Prime Minister on Parliamentary Affairs Babar Awan said that they have decided to launch a legal battle for bringing back Nawaz Sharif and would soon initiate the extradition process against him.
Earlier, Islamabad High Court (IHC) on September 16 had released a detailed verdict over its decision to issue an arrest warrant of the former Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif.
The detailed judgment of the division bench of the Islamabad court was written by Justice Aamir Farooq and was also signed by the other judge Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani.
The court noted that the lawyers of Nawaz Sharif failed to satisfy the court, therefore an appeal regarding the exemption of the former prime minister from the hearings is therefore rejected.
