MUMBAI: Bollywood actresses Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor and Rakul Singh who after being questioned by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), have denied substance abuse.
The probe was initially triggered by the NCB’s investigation into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput and led to the arrest of his live-in partner Rhea Chakraborty for the procurement of drugs on his behalf.
According to an Indian publication, these actresses said that they don’t even smoke cigarettes. The actresses reportedly denied having any knowledge about Sushant Singh Rajput’s drug consumption habits.
The actresses reportedly said that they were referring to hand-rolled cigarettes in their WhatsApp messages which mention the word ‘doob’.
The drugs watchdog might also check the financial records and bank statements of Deepika, Rakul Preet, Sara and Shraddha. The NCB has reportedly has seized mobile phones of Deepika, Shraddha, and others
Meanwhile, a former executive producer of Dharmatic Entertainment, owned by Karan Johar, told a magistrate’s court that he was harassed to make a statement that would implicate Johar.
His lawyer Satish Maneshinde alleged that the NCB had recorded his statement under duress and offered him a deal if he implicated Johar. However, the narcotics watchdog refuted the allegations.
