KP Health Minister Taimur Jhagra tests positive for COVID-19

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance and Health Minister, Taimur Jhagra has tested positive for novel coronavirus on Monday.

On a social media website Twitter, Jhagra announced that he has gone into isolation after testing positive for the COVID-19. The KP health minister further said that he was otherwise fine and healthy but had “a slight cough”.

“I will continue to work from home, health permitting, Insha’Allah, and hope to be back as soon as possible. If you have come in contact with me please test yourself”, he added.

On September 26, Senate Deputy Chairman Saleem Mandviwalla had tested positive for novel coronavirus. The Senate deputy chairman had quarantined himself after being confirmed of the infection. 

On a social media website Twitter, he said, “I have tested positive of COVID19 and have isolated myself at home as per advice by medics”.

“I request all friends & family who have recently met me should quarantine also. I need your prayers & blessings in this crucial time,” he added.

Earlier, Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Sheikh and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Imtiaz Sheikh had tested positive for novel COVID-19. The minister in a statement said that he underwent the coronavirus test after feeling a slight fever and sore throat.

The coronavirus has reported another 566 new cases in Pakistan, bringing the total number of patients to 310,841 on Monday.

According to figures released by the National Command and Operations Center, nine more people have died in the country due to coronavirus and the total number of deaths due to the epidemic has reached 6,466.

During the last 24 hours, 28,887 coronavirus tests were conducted in Pakistan. The number of virus cases in Sindh has reached 136,017. 99,219 cases have been reported in Punjab, 37,701 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 15,092 in Balochistan, 16,470 in Islamabad, 2,661 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and 3,681 in Gilgit.
