KARACHI: Five suspects allegedly involved in illegal construction on government land were arrested by the anti-encroachment zone one today (Saturday).
According to details, another five suspects managed to flee the scene, but raids were being carried out for his arrest. The arrested accused include Hanif Ghanchi, Saqib Nasir, Arshad, Riaz and Ali.
Director Anti-Encroachment Tariq Dharejo has informed that the arrested accused had occupied three acres of government land worth more than 15 million.
Director Anti-Encroachment further informed that the accused were selling plots to the common people through forgery. A case has been registered against the arrested accused under several provisions.
Earlier in August, the district police launched a crackdown against the land mafia operating in the metropolis by arresting three land grabbers involved in occupying lands.
According to details, the police arrested the three accused near Sharafi Goth, where they were illegally constructing a building, while one of their accomplices Haji Nazir managed to escape.
